According to a statement on Jimmy Buffett’s website, the “Margaritaville” singer passed away on Saturday surrounded by his friends, family, music, and pets.

The statement said, “He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.” According to reports, Jimmy had long been ill and had just started getting hospice care. He had to postpone a performance in South Carolina in May due to a last-minute hospitalization for a problem needing “immediate attention.” Buffett, the darling of all parrot heads worldwide, had to postpone several performances in 2022 due to health difficulties and a different hospital stint.

In May 2022, he performed at Jazz Fest in New Orleans, although he has not appeared much since. He was the face of the hotel and restaurant chain Margaritaville, and he even transformed the concept into a cruise line. His brand extended well beyond music and his enormous concert following.
