CLEAR LAKE — A rural Clear Lake barn was destroyed by fire on Saturday morning.

The Clear Lake and Ventura fire departments were called to the fire shortly after 10 o’clock at 19161 Hickory Avenue. On arrival, the barn was fully involved and efforts were focused on protecting nearby structures from further damage.

The barn was a total loss with the residence, two grain silos and a workshop sustaining heat damage. The barn had been used to store construction materials and equipment.

Clear Lake Fire Chief Doug Meyers says the fire began in the barn’s loft area and is believed to have been electrical in origin.

The property is owned by Shannon and John Furst and is insured. No injuries were reported.
