Workshop Description:

This program details the great care taken by family members to remember their loved ones through art. Folk markers, Zinkies and traditional markers are featured to highlight the stories of the deceased. Vivid colorful slides of the markers and local history are included in this presentation.

Speaker Bio:

Karen Byrne spends FAR too much time in Elmwood/St. Joseph’s Cemetery, walking the edges and looking for stories and as the chair of the Cemetery Board of Trustees. She spends so much time there that she has been dubbed a Cemetery Scientist by her grandson. In each of this presentation Karen will combine her cemetery walks, art, history and biographies as she
highlights the stories in the stones.
