There’s no better way to kick off Christmas by the Lake than by joining us at Clear Lake City Park for a festive Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 1st, at 5:30 pm. We’re excited to introduce a new tradition that promises to bring the spirit of the season to our community.

Saturday’s events include horse drawn carriage rides, a craft show, the crowning of prince and princess, a petting zoo, s’mores for kids, Christmas Karaoke, a visit with Santa, family matinees at the Lake Theatre, special entertainment at the Clear Lake Arts Center, strolling Dickens characters, a lighted parade, and fireworks over the frozen lake.  Kick off the weekend with a holiday concert at the Surf Ballroom and the Lights on 5K, and be sure to stick around for the Polar Bear Plunge on Sunday morning!

Join the Salvation Army for their 24th annual auction at the Music Man Square in Mason City on Saturday December 2nd from 9 AM until Noon.

Thomas W. Case has recently released his third book entitled Seedy Town Blues: Collected Poems. Thomas was a long time resident of Mason City and currently resides in Clear Lake. His work has been featured, several times, in Lyrical Iowa, Poetry in Public in Iowa City, and in anthologies from around the world. He will have copies of his book for sale and to sign following the program.   Join him for an author visit at the Mason City Public Library on Saturday December 2nd.
