American Cancer Society Honors Relay For Life of Franklin County with a 2019 Spirit of Relay Award
HAMPTON, IA – 01/28/2020 – Participants and volunteers of the Relay For Life of Franklin County received an American Cancer Society (ACS) Spirit of Relay Award, an honor in recognition of those who have gone above and beyond to help the American Cancer Society lead the fight for a world without cancer through the Relay For Life movement.
Senior Manager, Community Support, Heather Englin says, “there is work that goes on year round to make events like this successful. The dedication of our volunteers and staff is a testament to their commitment to lead the fight for a world without cancer.”
The 2019 Spirit of Relay Awards are divided into two categories: data-determined and nomination-based. All nominations must show leadership within a category making an impact on Relay For Life. A group of national Relay For Life volunteers carefully reviews all nominations and selects winners for each category.
Englin continues, “To all the fearless fighters, hope enablers, community mobilizers, and big dreamers who embody the very essence of the Relay For Life movement, we are excited to celebrate you!
The data-determined awards are based on total data collected by ACS. Awards include two communities in Eastern Iowa that was recognized in the following category.
