IOWA CITY — The 17th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes face a tough challenge tonight against a Purdue team that has been tough to beat at home. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says among the challenges is the play of Purdue guard Jahaad Proctor. The senior has averaged 14 points and shot nearly 50 percent from three point range the last two games.

Iowa junior center Luka Garza is coming off a career-high four three pointers in a win over Illinois and McCaffery says that has always been a part of his arsenal.

Sophomore guard Joe Weiskamp has become a more complete player this season. Weiskamp is ninth in the Big Ten in scoring and 15th in rebounding.

Iowa has lost nine of ten in Mackey Arena. You can hear the Iowa-Purdue game on AM-1300 KGLO starting with the pre-game at 5 o’clock with tipoff slated for 6 o’clock.

AMES — Iowa State coach Steve Prohm is not concerned about criticism of the program affecting his players. The Cyclones are 9-12 overall and just 2-6 in the Big 12 heading into tonight’s game at West Virginia.

Tonight’s game ends a tough stretch for the Cyclones that has seen them lose three straight.

Prohm says two keys against the Mountaineers are handling their press and rebounding.

Tipoff in Morgantown is scheduled for 6 o’clock tonight

CEDAR FALLS — Northern Iowa takes the Missouri Valley Conference lead on the road tonight to Valparaiso. The Panthers won the first meeting in Cedar Falls but Valpo senior Ryan Fazekas has returned from injury and is averaging over 10 points and shooting over 47 percent from three point range.

That’s Panther coach Ben Jacobson who says Fazekas helps open up the offense.

The Crusaders are 5-5 in the Valley but 8-1 at home this season.

DES MOINES — Drake looks to regain its winning form tonight by hosting Bradley. The Bulldogs are 5-5 in Missouri Valley play.

That’s Drake coach Darian DeVries who says they need to be more patient on offense than they were in a loss to the Braves in Peoria.

Bradley is 6-4 in the Valley.
