Today is the 18th Observance of September 11th 2001. I remember that day well. I know I spent lots of hours behind the scenes at the radio stations I worked for at the time. 101.5 WBNQWJBC and B104 in Bloomington, Illinois. I didn’t know what else to do or where to be at the time. I felt like my purpose on that day was to help the team keep people informed and somehow try to comfort our listeners who were sharing the same feelings of fear, anger and anxiety.

I was 22 years old and a few days shy of turning 23. I just remember the sheer terror of the magnitude of what was going on. I couldn’t believe it was real and thought for a time it was a nightmare. It was a feeling I will never forget. The feeling of nervousness as to what was possibly going to happen next and not knowing what the future had in store for our country. It’s something I will never forget.  It took months to get over that feeling after the September 11th terror attacks.

It’s important for all of us as American’s to share our feelings as to how we felt on that day to the younger generation and make sure that we never forget those who were lost during that horrible time in America’s history.
