🤝United Way of North Central Iowa Kirk Apartment Fire Victims
United Way of North Central Iowa is partnering with multiple community agencies to provide assistance to the tenants that lost everything in the Kirk Apartment Fire. This page is to provide information to those seeking information on how to help and where to go for help. This information will be updated as changes occur.
Donations
Donations for hygiene, clothes, blankets, and gift cards can be donated at the Salvation Army in Mason City. The Salvation Army building is located at 747 Village Green Drive just east of Menards. Donation times are from 10:00 a.m. -3 p.m.

Large Item donations of furniture, kitchenware, beds, etc. can be donated to the United Way of North Central Iowa located at 2911 4th Street SE, Mason City, located on the south side of the highway between Mason City Highschool and NIACC. Donations times are 8-4 p.m. Monday -Thursday. Please call ahead at 641-423-1774 because of limited staffing.
Monetary Donations
Monetary Donations can be sent to United Way of North Central Iowa at P.O. Box 1465 to be added to the Kirk Apartment Crisis Fund. United Way of North Central Iowa will be responsible for raising community funds and working with partner agencies to distribute to Kirk Apartment to fire victims.

Assistance
American Red Cross has set up a command center in the gym of the Salvation Army and should be considered the starting point for any family seeking assistance.
Financial
Financial Assistance will be done through the Salvation Army in Mason City along with Friends of the Family. For more information, please call: 641-424-4031 for Salvation Army and 319-215-2922 or 319-233-3094 for Friends of the Family.

American Red Cross-1.800.RED.CROSS, Victims will need a picture ID. You can call the Red Cross or go to the Command Center located at the Salvation Army Gym.
Temporary Shelter
Temporary Shelter is being provided by Salvation Army and there are beds available at Northern Lights Alliance For the Homeless. Please contact Jesse Germundson at 641-423-5920 to find out more.
Mental Health
The Prairie Ridge Drop-in Center is open to Kirk Residents. They are located at 112 2nd Street SE, Mason City, IA 50401. The drop-in center is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Laundry and Showers
Kirk Apartment Tenants can utilize the showers at the YMCA, Salvation Army Adult Day Health Center and Northern Lights Alliance for the Homeless. Northern Lights Alliance for the Homeless also had Laundry facilities that tenants are able to use.

Food

If you are interested in organizing a donation drive, the items needed include:
- Men’s and Women’s Clothing
- Hygiene products
- Bedding and blankets
- Non-perishable food items
