Mason City man sentenced to jail for harassment
NEVADA — It’s another 30 days in jail for a Mason City man accused of harassment and extortion charges.
19-year-old Christian Gossweiler was sentenced on Friday in Story County to 30 days in jail with credit for time served after pleading guilty to third-degree harassment That sentence will be served after he serves five-year sentences for extortion in Scott and Black Hawk counties.
In those two cases, authorities say a woman who was a student at the University of Northern Iowa had sent Gossweilier videos and nude photos via a social media app, with Gossweiler then demanding that she sent more photos and videos or he’d post online the material he already had received. The woman made a report to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, which forwarded the complaint to UNI Police, who later set up a sting to meet Gossweiler.
Gossweiler also pleaded guilty to an extortion charge and was given probation in Story County where he targeted an Iowa State University student in 2018.
