Lawsuit by former Clear Lake athlete against school district dropped
CLEAR LAKE — A lawsuit by a former Clear Lake High School athlete against the school district over injuries sustained while he was weightlifting has been dropped.
Parker Crispin had filed the lawsuit last year, claiming that he suffered severe, continuous, and permanent bodily injury because of weight training sessions, saying that teachers and administrators were negligent and at fault for the injuries. Crispin was seeking over $10,000 compensation for his injuries.
Attorneys for the school district claimed that Crispin’s lawsuit should be denied by the state’s statute of limitations, which only allows a window of two years for personal injury lawsuits.
A jury trial was scheduled to start on Tuesday in Cerro Gordo County District Court, but court records show that Crispin has voluntarily dropped the suit.
