Date: 15 June 2023 (Thursday)
Time: 10:30 – 11:30 A.M.
Location: Mason City Public Library – Commons Patio (alternative location: Commons)
Workshop Description: What if someone told you that you were a poet? Would you say Nah, I’m not creative. Poetry scares me. Poems have to rhyme. If you feel that way, this workshop will show you that these things are not true. You’ll learn about Gathas, which are simple 4-line unrhymed poems about you and a favorite thing in your life. And how happy it makes you. You can write about anything you like baseball, motorcycles, shopping, art, a person, etc. C’mon, give it a try, we can all enjoy each other’s Gathas. Mary Lynn will be happy to help you learn how.
Speaker Bio: Mary Lynn Oertel grew up being grateful for the Mason City Library’s librarians for picking out her books. Her Master of Arts is in World Literature from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago.
