Cerro Gordo County authorities investigate deer poaching tip

MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department says they are investigating possible deer poaching in the county.
On Friday night shortly after 10:40 PM, deputies responded to 310th Street and Apple Avenue to a deer poaching call, with their investigation revealing that a buck white tail deer was shot illegally. The deputies say neighbors heard the shot and pursued the poacher but were not able to stop them. The Sheriff’s Department is working with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in the investigation.
