About 100 U.S. Athletes In Tokyo Unvaccinated

As Olympics Begin About 100 of the 613 U.S. athletes taking part in the Tokyo Olympics are not vaccinated against COVID-19, according to officials before Friday night’s opening ceremony.

Medical director Jonathon Finnoff said they are “quite happy” with that number. The COVID-19 pandemic has overshadowed the Games as strict protocols are in place and no fans are being allowed at any events.

So far, two members of Team USA are known to have tested positive: Beach volleyball player Taylor Crabb and Kara Eaker, an alternate on the gymnastics team.
